My visit to SNDT University to do a workshop on co-operative learning was amazing for me. This topic is the part of my B.Ed. course syllabus. Being a teacher myself, I was not acquainted with many strategies under co-operative learning. I learnt strategies like Four-corners, Jig-saw, Fish-bowl, In-circle-out-circle, Think-pair share etc. I also learnt how to work in a fully online environment. I really appreciate the efforts of Dr. Jayshree Shinde and her team.
The workshop’s prime objective was to equip 21st century teachers with Cooperative Learning Strategies. I have been well equipped by DET to put my entire curriculum of two subjects ‘Telematics’ and ‘Introduction to VLSI technology’ on the LMS portal of the University. This portal has enabled my Diploma in Electronics students to learn at their own convenience and pace. A term flip-learning could be used for this which is only effective if students are intrinsically motivated. To drive them for better construction of knowledge it becomes necessary to motivate them extrinsically and CLS certainly has capabilities to make it possible. So, flip-learning with CLS will shift a teacher’s role from ‘only a teacher’ to many diversified roles of ‘effective catalyst in learning’. After this workshop I became confident in planning my lectures of flip-learning with CLS.
The content shared in the workshop through various sessions was very useful for developing a good OER. Hands-on experience during the face-to-face mode and discussions on key points helped a lot to use different tools related to OER development. This workshop helped me to create a shift in my perspective regarding open content as it was multi-cultural workshop which had participants from seven to eight states. It provided a wonderful environment for informal learning from each other and I have learned a lot from this workshop.
The workshop provided a great learning experience. The entire workshop was delivered through cooperative learning strategies which helped participants to understand the intricacies of the CLS. The whole workshop was very well organized and the hospitality of entire team made the stay comfortable and enjoyable. I look forward to apply the strategies in my own classroom and spread the message to the entire teaching faculty of my University.
It was indeed an enriching experience. Until now I used to consider that all the material available on the Internet is free and open to all. Now after participating in this workshop, I got to know how to identify OERs, the different free tools available for creating OERs, the licensing process and the different types of licenses. I learnt how to edit audio/video files, how to embed PPTs with audio/video files. The time given for hands-on experiences definitely enhanced my skill of developing effective OERs. I have gained confidence in developing OER for the subject that I teach. Thanks to all the TLC members of the Department of Education Technology for providing such a wonderful experience.
